If you are a skateboarder, you’ve listened to Mobb Deep. You might not even know it, but a quick search on SkateVideoSite.com shows their music has been used in a million different videos, ranging from random 411s to full-length Nike SB video projects, and Prodigy and Havoc’s rhymes and beats have been engrained in skaters minds for decades.
Recently, we were all shocked at the news of Prodigy’s passing due to complications following a long battle with sickle cell. So when we asked Rodrigo TX to curate a mix for the site, (who has skated to Mobb Deep in most of his video parts), he suggested doing an all out Prodigy / Mobb Deep tribute mix of more low key tracks dedicated to the group that had one of deepest impacts on his life. Check out his additional thoughts below via the good ol’ iPhone:
Stream Rodrigo’s mix below, and if you’re into it, download it here while you can.
More Mixes? Check out: Bill Strobeck, Blondey McCoy, Louie Lopez, Nora Vasconcellos, Alltimers, Rodrigo TX, Stefan Janoski, Franky Villani, Pass~Port skateboards, The 69 Mix, Beagle, LurkNYC, Bam Margera, Mike Arnold, Jason Sallilas, or Kevin Rodrigues.
