Brandon Turner has come in and out of the skate spotlight over the years, but if you kept up with his output over the course of 2020, then you saw him shock the entire industry and redefine what we thought skaters were capable of.
Brandon first came up in skating’s era of excess, and as a teen had access to the lavish lifestyle that skaters like Chad Muska and the Shorty’s crew were known for. That of course came with access to alcohol, drugs, and everything else that can lead to some bad decisions, all before the age of 21. After repeatedly doing jail time and several horrible injuries, a lot of people thought Brandon’s best years skating were behind him.
Instead, Brandon got his shit together, brushed himself off, and went through recovery — both from substances and for his injuries. Over the last couple of years, he’s come back stronger than ever, putting out the best footage of his career despite being almost 40.
While we were out on the West Coast cooking up some other special projects, we decided to link up with Brandon to film a Hanging Out With, but once his story started unfolding, we knew we had to dig a little deeper than usual. What became of it was this long, Epicly Later’d style documentary that’s ~newer territory for us, but necessary if we wanted to do Brandon’s long and complex story justice.

Still watching this for motivation.
I was asked to walk ‘Big B’ back to his spot
in Barcelona in August 2010ish because he drank too much absinthe.
Needless to say it was the
Funniest walk OF MY LIFE
As he was strolling in the crib
he turned and said
“We skating tomorrow, you should come”
So that’s what I did.
