Everyone and their best friend’s roommate runs a board brand these days, so cutting through the fray can feel like an impossible challenge. You need big-name riders, stockists and distributors, and a constant flow of products to make even the smallest ripple, but Ayman and Osama Abdeldayem are getting Carpet Company to buzz without any of that stuff.
The two brothers started out of basements in their hometown of Baltimore, Maryland, focusing heavily on craftsmanship and an insane attention to detail. That means individually-numbered boards, laser-etched logos, hand-screened graphics, and custom sewing that makes each Carpet Co. item entirely unique. Whether it’s a tee or a board, you know what you’re getting is one of a kind.
Their approach has garnered attention from shops across the States and the rest of the world, and they’ve built the brand’s rapport and sales up enough to get themselves their own space right outside downtown Baltimore. It’ll serve as their own screen printing facility, shipping and receiving HQ, and pop-up shop (but only twice a year, to coincide with their drops).
We couldn’t get away from the office to go visit ourselves, so one of their friends stopped by to get some sketchy footage of Ayman and Osama in their new element and hear how they started and what they have planned for the future.
Check out their web store for a tee before mindless Hypebeasts start to blow them up.
